Our CTO and wound filter cartridge combines two things in one: the depth filtration of a string-wound element, plus the chemical adsorption of a carbon block (CTO) core. This double-layer filter is built for jobs that need high dirt-holding capacity and effective chlorine reduction. The carbon-block-and-string-wound design makes it a high-capacity pre-filter, perfect for protecting downstream equipment from both particles and chemicals—even in tough water conditions.
Huge dirt load capacity – The outer string-wound layer works as a deep-bed filter, trapping lots of silt, sand, and rust. That keeps the inner carbon block from clogging too soon.
Great chlorine removal – The inner compressed carbon block (CTO) core is dedicated to reducing chlorine, chloramines, and bad tastes and odors. So you get both chemical and mechanical improvement in water quality.
Protects expensive equipment – Since it handles both sediment and chlorine in one unit, it’s an ideal pretreatment solution for industrial water. It helps protect RO membranes, UV lamps, and ion exchange resins from fouling and breakdown.
Longer service life – By putting two high-capacity media types in the right order, this cartridge handles heavier contamination for longer than standard single-media filters. That means fewer change-outs.

Industrial pretreatment systems – Used in factories and commercial buildings for tough industrial water pretreatment, protecting equipment and improving water quality.
Agricultural and irrigation control – Filters sediment from pond, canal, or well water, while also reducing chlorine that can harm certain crops and soil microbes in irrigation systems.
Commercial laundries and car washes – Protects water-using equipment and improves wash water quality, giving cleaner results and preventing nozzle clogs.
1. Depressurize and open the filter vessel.
2. Remove the used composite filter.
3. Inspect and clean the housing sump.
4. Install the new CTO and wound cartridge. ensuring the O-rings are clean and seated.
5. Close the vessel. repressurize slowly. and flush thoroughly for several minutes to expel air and carbon fines.
Q: Can this filter be used with hot water?
A: No, the standard materials (PP and carbon) are rated for cold water applications only (up to 52°C / 125°F).
Q: Is the string wound layer washable?
A: No, this is a disposable composite filter cartridge. The wound layer is not designed to be cleaned and reused.
